The number one reason couples come to therapy is issues with communication!!! It is communication- or the lack thereof- that leads to those conflicts! Many times, couples report that while they used to communicate well, now they argue a lot, or keep having the same arguments over and over. Some say they never communicated well at all! When they fight, they get really heated, and they might yell and scream, or throw things, or someone just checks out. What’s common in any of the scenarios is the exhaustion that comes from doing the same thing over and over and never getting anywhere… I often hear “there’s no point in talking, because nothing ever gets resolved.” But…
