FAQs About Working with an Intern
What is a counseling intern?
An intern is an advanced-level graduate student who is completing their clinical training under the supervision of a licensed therapist. After demonstrating their understanding and application of skills in an educational setting through practice sessions and mock counseling, they are ready to apply those skills to actual clients. All of their work is overseen/guided by someone experienced in the field. Essentially, you're getting the benefit of two counselors in one!
Why should I consider working with an intern?
Working with an intern can be a unique and meaningful experience. Being at the end of their graduate work means you benefit from the intern’s fresh, research-based perspective, combined with the support and guidance of an experienced clinician.
Interns are often deeply engaged in the therapeutic process—they bring genuine curiosity, empathy, and a strong commitment to helping clients grow. Many clients find that interns are especially attentive and collaborative, making space for your voice and goals in each session.
Choosing to work with an intern also makes therapy more accessible, with reduced fees and flexible scheduling, while still maintaining high standards of care.
Why should I work with Rylee, specifically?
