What is trauma- sensitive yoga?

Trauma- sensitive yoga is a shared experience involving movement, stillness, invitations, and choices. It is similar to yoga in style, but allows you to decide when and how you move in ways that support body awareness and autonomy.

How is trauma-sensitive yoga different?

Join where you are. Size doesn't matter. Neither does flexibility. Wear what you want.

Never done any yoga before?

Perfect, you're in the right place.

Been practicing yoga for decades?

Great; get ready to learn something new about you.

Trauma- sensitive yoga is different in that the focus is on your internal experience- not your posture or whether your form is perfect. There are no asanas, there are no physical adjustments, there is no sanskrit, and there is no judgment.

Is yoga a good fit for me?

Yoga is a great addition to your healing journey, and a wonderful adjunct treatment to therapy in many cases- but not all. Before adding yoga as a part of your treatment plan, we will do a brief consultation to make sure that it's the right fit for you, and that it's the right time to add it to your journey.

If you have health concerns, please consult with your doctor before beginning this or any other physical activity.

We will work together to decide on the best course of yoga treatment for you and to create a practice that aligns with your current needs and goals.  If used as an adjunct to psychotherapy, yoga sessions will be 30 minutes long. Private lessons will be one hour long.

Please note that insurance is not accepted for yoga.

Fees:

30 minute add-on session: $65

60 minute therapeutic session (self-pay only): $105

When booking direct, select "I'm a new client" and choose Chana as your clinician.
